Meet our Dementia Heroes and LD Heroes
Meet the Kintota staff behind our Dementia Heroes and LD Heroes campaigns — real first names, real fun facts, from the Plymouth team.
Kintota supports people living with dementia and people with learning disabilities right across Plymouth, and two of the campaigns we’re proudest of put names and faces to the staff who make that support real: our Dementia Heroes and our LD Heroes. Every so often we like to slow down and just introduce people, one fun fact at a time.
Each profile follows the same simple format — a photo, a first name, and one honest “fun fact,” nothing polished or corporate about it. It’s a small thing, but it’s the kind of small thing that tells you more about a team than a mission statement ever could.
Who are our Dementia Heroes?
Ashleigh — Fun fact: I have two degrees, one in Education and one in Health and Social Care.
Barbara — Fun fact: I keep buying pictures of hares and foxes.
Beth — Fun fact: I’m currently in my third year of studying psychology.
Caroline — Fun fact: I write poetry about the people I support, just for me, to celebrate our connection.
Deborah — Fun fact: creativity leads to positivity. I feel we all need to embrace what the day has in store for us, head on!
Faye — Fun fact: I’m bonkers, in the best ways. I love making people happy!
Melissa — Fun fact: I love to travel all around the world and experience different cultures.
Steph — Fun fact: I love cats, they make me smile. Especially our clients’ cats!
Tanya — Fun fact: I love bringing happiness to people’s lives and seeing them smile!
Who are our LD Heroes?
Our LD Heroes support clients with learning disabilities, and two familiar faces show up on both lists — Barbara and Melissa support people across both specialisms, which tells you something about how flexible our team has to be.
Melissa — Fun fact: I play for a ladies’ football team.
Barbara — Fun fact: I love making people smile.
Claire — Fun fact: I love helping others achieve their goals.
Elouise — Fun fact: I am an SEN teacher by day, and a support worker in my free time.
Helen — Fun fact: I love trying to make people laugh.
Sharon — Fun fact: I’m always cheerful, and making people smile and lifting their spirits.
Why bother with “fun facts”?
Because support work isn’t anonymous, and it shouldn’t feel that way. Every one of the fifteen profiles above is a real person who turns up, week after week, for someone who relies on them. Knowing that Steph loves cats, or that Caroline writes poetry, doesn’t change the quality of the support — but it changes how it feels to be supported by them, and it says something about who we are as a team, too.
It’s worth saying as well that this isn’t a one-off gallery. Names like Melissa, Barbara, Tanya, Caroline, Helen, Sharon, Claire and Beth still show up on Kintota’s team roster well after these profiles were first shared — this isn’t a campaign of new starters passing through, it’s a long-serving team who happen to have fun facts worth sharing.
Some of these names are still on Kintota’s team roster today. Deborah, who was profiled here as a Dementia Hero, is also listed as a client manager on our 2025 team roster. The “fun fact” campaign captures a moment, and plenty of the people in it are still part of the team, which is exactly what we’d want for anyone who joins us.
